Skill-Based Public Health Training Program for Injury Prevention
MARCH 12 - 14, 2012
The Emory Center for Injury Control is offering a FREE, three day, skill-based training program to injury prevention practitioners. Breakfast, lunch, and all materials will be provided. The focus of this program is on violence prevention topics: youth violence and intimate partner violence. Please note, experience in these fields is not necessary for acceptance into this program.
The first day of the course will be devoted to lectures from experts in youth violence and intimate partner violence, as well as overviews of each of the track topics: grant writing, program evaluation, and policy/advocacy. The second and third day will be devoted to hands-on training in one of those areas. After the 3 day course, participants will be ready to develop their own product for their organization, either a grant proposal, program evaluation plan, or advocacy and communications plan. Participants will receive further guidance to develop these products through a follow-up session via web conferencing in April, 2011.
After the completion of this program, participants will have:
- Increased knowledge of youth violence and intimate partner violence in GA
- Increased practical skills in one of three areas: grant writing, program evaluation, or injury policy
- Developed a product that will benefit the participants’ organization
